Its Holi, the Festival of Colours, the Festival of Love.
Holi (होली), the ancient Hindu spring festival where people colour each other with colored water and powder, signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring and the end of winter. A joyous day to meet friends, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and to repair broken relationships.
The religious festival from India and Nepal has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia. Lately it has spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic, and colours. No wonder as it is such a jolly way to welcome the spring.
