On the occasion of the Guy Bourdin Image-Maker retrospective at Somerset House, Nowness presents a true gem, a super-8 rarity from the enigmatic and edgy photographer.

The in-depth exhibition, curated by Alistair O’Neill with Shelly Verthime, covers Bourdin’s 40-year career from Man Ray’s protégé to photography revolutionary in his own right and showcases over 100 of Bourdin’s most significant works. A selection of Super-8 films he made at the same time as his studio shoots, explore his role as a pioneer of fashion film.
Guy Bourdin remains an influential figure in fashion photography and the source of inspiration to contemporary artists from Tim Walker to Nick Knight.

Guy Bourdin: Image-Maker at Somerset House is the UK’s largest ever exhibition of the influential and enigmatic fashion photographer Guy Bourdin, featuring over 100 works and previously unseen material from the photographer’s estate, from 1955 to 1987.
