Lady Gaga may have scrapped her video “Do What U Want” because of the controversy around her director, Terry Richardson, and her co-star, R. Kelly.
Towards the end of 2013 several models laccused Richardson of sexual harassment . Brands like H&M distanced themselves from the photographer after a widely-circulated Change.org petition demanded that companies drop Richardson as their photographer. (Richardson denied these allegations in a New York magazine cover story this week.)
Sources told the New York Post that Gaga didn’t know of the claims made against Richardson at the time. Her co-star, R. Kelly, wasn’t faring too well in the press either. In December, the Village Voice ran a feature that described him as the subject of dozens of “stomach-churning” sexual assault lawsuits in the 90s. Reportedly fearing a PR backlash, Gaga’s team wisely decided to scrap the video. See some excerpts via TMZ
